BuzzCutz #046 - The Rock Bash Episode

Tom joined Dave and I for the first segment of the podcast, and then had to take off for work, so we finished up a few hours later with Jimmy Southard and Alan Prince, who are working together to bring a great day of music to Rogersville next Saturday. The End of Summer Rock Bash is one of the best line-ups of heavy entertainment this area has produced , and we look forward to seeing what happens this year, and in the years to come. We had fun seeing Alan again, and it has been good getting to know Jim - hope you enjoy your introduction as well.

BuzzCutz #045 - The Billy Dee Williams Episode

gambleAlan Gamble joined us on BuzzCutz this week and brought years of talent and experience behind a drum kit, on the road, and onstage to the table.  Alan played his first gig in 1961, and shows no signs of slowing down - nor would we want him to.  He is still as solid as the day he started, and is constantly in high demand for bands, gigs, and recording projects.

Alan is currently playing with the JimJams, Bag a’Cats, and Clattering Trees, a recording project with Kevin O’Donnell and Dave Sieg.  Clattering Trees enlisted the aid of several good local musicians, including my wife, Vanessa Bentley, and Brandon Story, who you will hear singing on their second song.  So sit back and enjoy the podcast and the music, which also includes a last goodbye.

BuzzCutz #044 - The New House Episode

electromusic

Mark Mahoney and Michael Peck are two guys with a lot of electronic equipment, spare time, and talent. They have utilized that spare time to create vast soundscapes and epic songs that create both ambient background and challenging composition. We had them on the show this past week to talk about the upcoming Electro-Music Festival in Kingsport, and to let us know what was up with their ongoing search for sound.

This is their story.

BuzzCutz #042 - The Fallen Angel Episode

leah

This week was another first for the BuzzCutz crew, as we had our first club/venue owner in the studio. Leah Jobe, who has turned Halo into one of Johnson City’s finest nightspots, joined us for this week’s show, and we all had a great time talking music, movies, food, and anything else that came up. We recorded some of it, and you can listen to that part.

For some reason, my microphone did some weird strangeness, and I sound like a radio personality from 1937, but you can hear what I’m saying (To the horror of many listeners, I’m sure.). Sorry for the technical problems, if anyone is offended, please send donations to the Buzz, and we will use received monies to repair any problems along the way. Or for beer money.

BuzzCutz #041 - The Byars Beware Episode

antiheroTim and Dave Antihero (Not their real names…) joined us on the show this week to discuss local promotion and music, and these young guys are continuing on a path of musical involvement and and enjoyment that has been going on for a few years now. Keep an eye out for one of their shows, and stop by to say howdy while you’re there. They seem very pleasant for a couple of hardcore club kids, and we wish them very well, and enjoyed having them on the show. Hope you do as well.

BuzzCutz #040 - The Forty Days and Nights Episode

pits

The P.I.T.S. are a two-man band from Kingsport that are going on ten years of playing music together, and Chris and Luke are just passing the ripe age of 23. Those years together have helped them develop their sound, and helped them develop a friendship that was very evident as they appeared in the studio this week for the show. While Tom is not a big fan of leaving the bass out of the band, he seemed to enjoy the music, and we all had a fine conversation, and if you feel like you might be interested in hearing it, I highly suggest you do so.

Buzzcutz #037 - The Double Trouble Episode

Ole’ Jared went to the beach last week and Dave and Tom do the duo this week with the Double Trouble Episode.

Trouble it was too. Dave needs to hone up on his recording skiils because Steve Bailey with Sound Check music was nice enough to come down and talk for a while, but Dave screwed up the episode on the first go-round, and we didn’t get the audio.

Nevertheless, Dave and Tom dive right into this week’s news and musical details with reviews of last week’s Twilight Alive with the ungodly talented tuba player, a review of Clinchfest, July 4th, Anyfest and a gang-bang of other topics.
