BuzzCutz #041 - The Byars Beware Episode

antiheroTim and Dave Antihero (Not their real names…) joined us on the show this week to discuss local promotion and music, and these young guys are continuing on a path of musical involvement and and enjoyment that has been going on for a few years now. Keep an eye out for one of their shows, and stop by to say howdy while you’re there. They seem very pleasant for a couple of hardcore club kids, and we wish them very well, and enjoyed having them on the show. Hope you do as well.

BuzzCutz #040 - The Forty Days and Nights Episode

pits

The P.I.T.S. are a two-man band from Kingsport that are going on ten years of playing music together, and Chris and Luke are just passing the ripe age of 23. Those years together have helped them develop their sound, and helped them develop a friendship that was very evident as they appeared in the studio this week for the show. While Tom is not a big fan of leaving the bass out of the band, he seemed to enjoy the music, and we all had a fine conversation, and if you feel like you might be interested in hearing it, I highly suggest you do so.

Buzzcutz #037 - The Double Trouble Episode

Ole’ Jared went to the beach last week and Dave and Tom do the duo this week with the Double Trouble Episode.

Trouble it was too. Dave needs to hone up on his recording skiils because Steve Bailey with Sound Check music was nice enough to come down and talk for a while, but Dave screwed up the episode on the first go-round, and we didn’t get the audio.

Nevertheless, Dave and Tom dive right into this week’s news and musical details with reviews of last week’s Twilight Alive with the ungodly talented tuba player, a review of Clinchfest, July 4th, Anyfest and a gang-bang of other topics.

BuzzCutz #036 - The Wetter Than Hell Episode

garyhensleyAfter last week’s heat, I really wanted to see some rain come through and cool things down.  I just didn’t want or expect as much as we got, and I’m glad it cleared up as it did.

Gary Hensley was our second outdoor guest, and reminisced about his Twilight Alive experience, as well as many others.  He’s got a top-notch young band, and he shared stories, songs, and a few laughs with the three amigos (Welcome back, Thomas!).  We had a good bit of fun - hope you do, too.

BuzzCutz #035 - The Hotter than Hell Episode

wolfcreek

We are now outdoors with the podcast! We are amongst the people, out in the streets, and burning up. Man is it hot out there.

Since it was hot, we had cool guests for the first of our outdoor excursions. The boys from Wolf Creek stopped in and gave us a fine interview, drank a beer or two, and had a blast. Ed, Jim, Kevin, and Jason have been playing great music for years, and now they are doing it together (With Robbie Stevens, who was unable to join us.), and doing it very well. We were very happy to have them on the program, so give it a listen and let us know what you think.

Tom was not with us this week, and he was sorely missed.  Hopefully we will have him back next week - it just ain’t the same without him there.

We had some logistical troubles this week that left us guest-less, but it is always good to spend time with Tom and Dave, so we made the most of it and had a fine conversation. I hope them fellers feel the same way, but it’s doubtful. I do know they had several good things to say on the air, however, so give us a listen this week and see what was said. Hope you enjoy.

BuzzCutz #033 - The Eternal State of Being Episode

robby spencer

Robby Spencer brought his latest adventure to our offices in Kingsport, and was a very nice guest to have for our last indoor podcast for a while.  Robby is a cult figure in our area, and for many reasons.  An accomplished and experienced musician, he is also the host of his own very popular television show, and a frequent guest at The Pickin’ Porch, as well as other regional bluegrass forums.  It was a real treat for us to have him with us in the studio, and his visit elicited another first - our first “televised celebrity” visit (As well as our first “live” text request - from Tom’s lovely wife.).Give it a listen and see if you enjoy it as much as we did.

Too Much Time On My Hands?!?

timepiecesSo…I have hit that point in my life that I knew would come, but always dreaded. That moment that all musicians reach at some point, no matter their level of expertise or experience, whether rich or poor, famous or introverted. It is a decision that I never wanted to face. The decision to continue playing music is upon me, and I move forward with my decision and debate very hesitantly and with much confusion and trepidation. (more…)
