The GoTriCities camera team caught up with regional metal act Blindsight at the new opening of Capone’s in Johnson City. The guys were nice enough to share with us some insight about their music and the future of the band in this exclusive interview.
We had a great time with Brandon and Mariel Story @ The Down Home on March 2oth and recorded this interview and live performance set as they introduce new music and talk about the upcoming summer.
There’s always been something special about Bristol. In Northeast, Tennessee this town has the most vibrant downtown scene in the Tri-Cities and I always enjoy hanging here on the weekend to hear great live music by local bands and musicians.
A few weeks ago, I made the trip in the rain to catch Ablazing Grace at O’Mainians pub and even though there was a downpour, State Street was radiant as the street lights and neon melted into a dazzling display on the street that separates two states. The night was early and we had planned on an interview with the band and before the night was over we had a great time and experienced a hell-ova rock-and-roll show from these hard-core artists. Last week on Buzzcutz interviewed performer/songwriter Rob Russell who announced his candidacy for First District Congressman.
We also interviewed Rob and his band, The Sore Losers at the last live show at Gatsby’s on Saturday, February 16th. Here’s a new video for you to enjoy.
Pac Man had just come out along with several other popular video games and beer was cheap by the pitcher in my first years of college. Together with my roommates at Cooper Hall (now demolished) we officially worked ourselves toward academic probation at this local pub and I’m certain it still happens today.
I’d be willing to wager anyone who’s ever attended classes at ETSU has made several trips to Poor Richards. Nothing much has changed either except for an expanded bar next door and a great new stage that hosts live music every Friday night.
We loaded up the camera equipment and made our way Friday night to see 10,000 Flames at “Poor Dicks” and had a good time hanging out with one of the hardest working rock bands in the region. With six years under their belt, they were just as much a part of the legacy as this college pub, especially for long time fans of the local music scene.
This week’s show features Henkul, an audio and video artist from Bristol who has been a staple of the rock scene for quite a while - and shows no signs of slowing down. The show ran long, and never got stale.
Dave couldn’t make it, but Tom and I really enjoyed the interview. Hope you do as well.

The band was playing a performance at the Bristol Public Library as part of the Bristol Rhythm and Roots monthly concert and discuss their new record, the upcoming tour and the new band that performs at the annual festival.
Rise Phoenix Rise’s front man Gibson paid us a visit this week, and brought with him a damn fine new CD and gifts for the hosts. Can’t ask for more than that. Hope you enjoy the podcast as much as we did.
