BuzzCutz 029 - The Drummer/Drum Machine Episode

drum machine

This week’s BuzzCutz saw another glitch in scheduling, which seemed to work to our advantage, in a way. Our good friend Scott Thomas happened to be in Kingsport, and dropped in to pay us a visit. If you don’t know Scott, you should - he plays drums in two very good bands, and we surely appreciated having him around. Give it a listen.

BuzzCutz #028 - The Sir Paul 28IF Episode

28ifThis week saw a bit of a change-up in the BuzzCutz format, as we were guest-less and host-less in a sense. David experienced a loss in his family this week, and was attending services, so he could not be with us. Many good wishes to Dave, who was sorely missed. We also were without the company of our scheduled guset, Jeremiah Nave, who got a good sound gig and was unable to attend. It’s nice to hear about good people getting good jobs with music around here - we will reschedule.

So - Tom and I did our best to keep the conversation flowing, and recorded a slightly abbreviated version of the show. Hope you like it.

The GoTriCities camera team caught up with regional metal act Blindsight at the new opening of Capone’s in Johnson City. The guys were nice enough to share with us some insight about their music and the future of the band in this exclusive interview.

BuzzCutz #027 - The Smiling Assassin Episode

atwaterThis week was a real treat for us on BuzzCutz, as Phil Leonard and Ron Baisden graced us with a visit, and created a fine conversation that covered a lot of bases.  These two guys have been blessed with immense talent, and a plethora of very talented players to jam with over the years, and it was more than fun to pick their brains a bit.  They are playing together again in a band called the Mudbugs, so get out and see them if you get the chance.

The three of us really enjoyed this one, and I think you can tell.  Listen up and see for yourself.

BuzzCutz #026 - The Catcher in the Rye Episode

drywell

Drywell doesn’t play as often as they used to, so it’s a real treat to catch them when they do. Folks will have a chance to see them this weekend, and we really appreciated them letting us help promote the show by coming on the podcast. Bassist Jeremiah Waldo represented the band and joined us for a spirited discussion of all things musical and current - and he got rather serious at times. Well worth the listen, we hope you enjoy it as much as we did.

Summer Breeze, Part Two-ish

I have already posted a blog about my affinity for outdoor festivals, and the beauty of the summer months. I know there are others on the BuzzCutz podcast (Thomas) that are not particularly fond of playing outdoors, and the reason for their distaste is more than understood. The wind and air can play hell with an instrument, and it is much harder to stay in tune when not in a controlled environment. There is always the possibility of rain. There is always the possibility of heat stroke or some other damn thing. Outdoor shows can give you a real headache in many ways.

But - they can also turn a nice, sunny day into a great memory. [Read more →]
