BuzzCutz #034 - The Fibonacci 9 Episode

fibonacci

We had some logistical troubles this week that left us guest-less, but it is always good to spend time with Tom and Dave, so we made the most of it and had a fine conversation. I hope them fellers feel the same way, but it’s doubtful. I do know they had several good things to say on the air, however, so give us a listen this week and see what was said. Hope you enjoy.

BuzzCutz #033 - The Eternal State of Being Episode

robby spencer

Robby Spencer brought his latest adventure to our offices in Kingsport, and was a very nice guest to have for our last indoor podcast for a while.  Robby is a cult figure in our area, and for many reasons.  An accomplished and experienced musician, he is also the host of his own very popular television show, and a frequent guest at The Pickin’ Porch, as well as other regional bluegrass forums.  It was a real treat for us to have him with us in the studio, and his visit elicited another first - our first “televised celebrity” visit (As well as our first “live” text request - from Tom’s lovely wife.).Give it a listen and see if you enjoy it as much as we did.

Too Much Time On My Hands?!?

timepiecesSo…I have hit that point in my life that I knew would come, but always dreaded. That moment that all musicians reach at some point, no matter their level of expertise or experience, whether rich or poor, famous or introverted. It is a decision that I never wanted to face. The decision to continue playing music is upon me, and I move forward with my decision and debate very hesitantly and with much confusion and trepidation. [Read more →]

BuzzCutz #032 - The “…Stays in Vegas” Episode

padlockgrimPadlock Grim visited us in the studio this week, or at least half of The Grim.  Josh Dunn and Carey DeWitt joined Tom and I for an interview, as Dave was otherwise entangled in the work-related excursion to the great gambling paradise out west known as Big Reno.  We talked about local music, local venues, and band name generators.  Hope you enjoy listening as much as we liked recording.

BuzzCutz #031 - The All In The Family Episode

gretchenDave and Mia Richards were the guests on BuzzCutz this week, doubling the total number of female guests in the past two shows. We are setting records at BuzzCutz.

It was great to have the two of them in the studio, as they have made great music for quite some time now, and have branched out across this country to form quite a musical network. Web-savvy and talented, their band Gretchen has done very well promoting themselves and their music, and we wish them all the best with their upcoming CD, which they are producing themselves. And it seems that Dave has caught on quickly, if the song Cemetery Gates is any indication.  Give us a listen, hope you enjoy.

BuzzCutz #030 - The Boyd Where Prohibited Episode

This week saw a major milestone in the short history of the Cutz, with our first female guest to grace the studio. Vanessa Boyd has made the move from Greeneville, Tennessee to New York City without missing a beat, and was in town for an art opening in AsheVegas at the Courtyard Gallery May 2nd (The gallery is on Walnut Street, just down from the Mellow Mushroom.). During her trip through, she stopped in to shoot the breeze with Dave and I, and it was a very enjoyable bull session. Hope you enjoy it. If you do, keep in mind she’ll be back in town August 15 for Music on the Square, if not sooner.

Here is a video from one of her spoken word shows in New York:
