The GoTriCities PodCast

What is Podcasting?
Podcasting is delivering audio content to iPods and other portable media players on demand, so that it can be listened to at the user's convenience. The main benefit of podcasting is that listeners can sync content to their media player and take it with them to listen whenever they want to. Because podcasts are typically saved in Mp3 format, they can also be listened to on nearly any computer.

If you have an iPod or have the iTunes software already on your computer, you can click this link to Subscribe to the Podcast.

BuzzcutzYou can also simply enter the words "buzzcutz" in iTunes and you can subscribe to the podcast there and will receive weekly updates everytime we do a new show. More details are found on The Buzzcutz Blog located here.

If you do not have an iPod or iTunes, you may click the links below to download the audio file to your computer in a Mp3 format. File sizes will range from 30 to 50 mb in size.

BuzzCutz - Episode #46 - The "Southard Exposure" Episode
Listen to Buzzcutz for August 22, 2008
Tom joined Dave and I for the first segment of the podcast, and then had to take off for work, so we finished up a few hours later with Jimmy Southard and Alan Prince, who are working together to bring a great day of music to Rogersville next Saturday. The End of Summer Rock Bash is one of the best line-ups of heavy entertainment this area has produced , and we look forward to seeing what happens this year, and in the years to come. We had fun seeing Alan again, and it has been good getting to know Jim - hope you enjoy your introduction as well.

BuzzCutz - Episode #45 - The "In Choosing this Week's Guest, We Took a Gamble and It Paid off" Episode
Listen to Buzzcutz for August 15, 2008
Alan Gamble joined us on BuzzCutz this week and brought years of talent and experience behind a drum kit, on the road, and onstage to the table. Alan played his first gig in 1961, and shows no signs of slowing down - nor would we want him to. He is still as solid as the day he started, and is constantly in high demand for bands, gigs, and recording projects. Alan is currently playing with the JimJams, Bag a’Cats, and Clattering Trees, a recording project with Kevin O’Donnell and Dave Sieg. Clattering Trees enlisted the aid of several good local musicians, including my wife, Vanessa Bentley, and Brandon Story, who you will hear singing on their second song. So sit back and enjoy the podcast and the music, which also includes a last goodbye.

BuzzCutz - Episode #44 - The "Lesson in Electro-Dynamics" Episode
Listen to Buzzcutz for August 6, 2008
Mark Mahoney and Michael Peck are two guys with a lot of electronic equipment, spare time, and talent. They have utilized that spare time to create vast soundscapes and epic songs that create both ambient background and challenging composition. We had them on the show this past week to talk about the upcoming Electro-Music Festival in Kingsport, and to let us know what was up with their ongoing search for sound. This is their story.

BuzzCutz - Episode #43 - The "Getting a Nave Review" Episode
Listen to Buzzcutz for August 1, 2008
Jeremiah Nave is a young cat, but he has been around the block when it comes to the music industry. He has lived and worked regionally and in Nashville, and travels around the country with his East Coast Mobile Recording truck making people sound good. He was in town this week, so he stopped into the BuzzCutz studio and told us what he has been up to, as well as bringing us a few tunes. Hope you enjoy.

42nd Episode
BuzzCutz - Episode #42 - The "You Had Me at Halo" Episode
Listen to Buzzcutz for July 25, 2008
This week was another first for the BuzzCutz crew, as we had our first club/venue owner in the studio. Leah Jobe, who has turned Halo into one of Johnson City’s finest nightspots, joined us for this week’s show, and we all had a great time talking music, movies, food, and anything else that came up. We recorded some of it, and you can listen to that part. For some reason, my microphone did some weird strangeness, and I sound like a radio personality from 1937, but you can hear what I’m saying (To the horror of many listeners, I’m sure.). Sorry for the technical problems, if anyone is offended, please send donations to the Buzz, and we will use received monies to repair any problems along the way. Or for beer money.

BuzzCutz - Episode #41 - The "An Antiheroes Welcome" Episode
Listen to Buzzcutz for July 18, 2008
Tim and Dave Antihero (Not their real names…) joined us on the show this week to discuss local promotion and music, and these young guys are continuing on a path of musical involvement and and enjoyment that has been going on for a few years now. Keep an eye out for one of their shows, and stop by to say howdy while you’re there. They seem very pleasant for a couple of hardcore club kids, and we wish them very well, and enjoyed having them on the show. Hope you do as well.

BuzzCutz - Episode #40 The "Man, This Is The P.I.T.S." Episode
Listen to Buzzcutz for July 11, 2008
The P.I.T.S. are a two-man band from Kingsport that are going on ten years of playing music together, and Chris and Luke are just passing the ripe age of 23. Those years together have helped them develop their sound, and helped them develop a friendship that was very evident as they appeared in the studio this week for the show. While Tom is not a big fan of leaving the bass out of the band, he seemed to enjoy the music, and we all had a fine conversation, and if you feel like you might be interested in hearing it, I highly suggest you do so.

BuzzCutz - Episode #36 - The "Rain of Terror" Episode
Listen to Buzzcutz for June 13, 2008
After last week’s heat, I really wanted to see some rain come through and cool things down. I just didn’t want or expect as much as we got, and I’m glad it cleared up as it did. Gary Hensley was our second outdoor guest, and reminisced about his Twilight Alive experience, as well as many others. He’s got a top-notch young band, and he shared stories, songs, and a few laughs with the three amigos (Welcome back, Thomas!). We had a good bit of fun - hope you do, too.

BuzzCutz - Episode #35 - The "Cool Guests on a Hot Day" Episode
Listen to Buzzcutz for June 6, 2008
We are now outdoors with the podcast! We are amongst the people, out in the streets, and burning up. Man is it hot out there. Since it was hot, we had cool guests for the first of our outdoor excursions. The boys from Wolf Creek stopped in and gave us a fine interview, drank a beer or two, and had a blast. Ed, Jim, Kevin, and Jason have been playing great music for years, and now they are doing it together (With Robbie Stevens, who was unable to join us.), and doing it very well. We were very happy to have them on the program, so give it a listen and let us know what you think.

BuzzCutz - Episode #34 - The "The Young and the Guest-less" Episode
Listen to Buzzcutz for May 30, 2008
We had some logistical troubles this week that left us guest-less, but it is always good to spend time with Tom and Dave, so we made the most of it and had a fine conversation. I hope them fellers feel the same way, but it’s doubtful. I do know they had several good things to say on the air, however, so give us a listen this week and see what was said. Hope you enjoy.

BuzzCutz - Episode #33 - The "Spencer's Gifts" Episode
Listen to Buzzcutz for May 23, 2008
Robby Spencer brought his latest adventure to our offices in Kingsport, and was a very nice guest to have for our last indoor podcast for a while. Robby is a cult figure in our area, and for many reasons. An accomplished and experienced musician, he is also the host of his own very popular television show, and a frequent guest at The Pickin’ Porch, as well as other regional bluegrass forums. It was a real treat for us to have him with us in the studio, and his visit elicited another first - our first “televised celebrity” visit (As well as our first “live” text request - from Tom’s lovely wife). Give it a listen and see if you enjoy it as much as we did.

We talked about local music, local venues, and band name generators. Hope you enjoy listening as much as we liked recording.

BuzzCutz - Episode #31 - The "Gretchen: The Truth" Episode
Listen to Buzzcutz for May 9, 2008
Dave and Mia Richards were the guests on BuzzCutz this week, doubling the total number of female guests in the past two shows. We are setting records at BuzzCutz. It was great to have the two of them in the studio, as they have made great music for quite some time now, and have branched out across this country to form quite a musical network. Web-savvy and talented, their band Gretchen has done very well promoting themselves and their music, and we wish them all the best with their upcoming CD, which they are producing themselves. And it seems that Dave has caught on quickly, if the song Cemetery Gates is any indication. Give us a listen, hope you enjoy.
